Seventeen years ago I tried yoga as a final — and only successful — approach to mitigating chronic back pain. I not only got rid of the pain, I became stronger, calmer, more flexible, and more mindful. I began to incorporate healthier eating and other habits into my daily life. Yoga opened up my world, and it has a lot to offer everyone who commits to a regular practice.

Many people come to yoga from a physical perspective for pain relief or for fitness. They often discover numerous other benefits. Yoga helps us cultivate and maintain a healthy body and a calm mind. We begin to handle challenging situations more gracefully. We approach ourselves and others with more compassion and less judgment. We delve into our “shadow side” and overcome fear and anxiety. Yoga opens our hearts and our minds. It helps us become more balanced human beings and evolve toward our best selves. 

I am grateful to have been blessed with this practice and the many wonderful teachers with whom I’ve studied. In 2013, I received my 200-hour Prana Flow® (vinyasa) yoga teaching certificate through the Samudra School of Living Yoga, with Shiva Rea. This was thanks to the encouragement of my amazing teacher, Dee Greenberg, who now teaches in Southern Florida (Yoga Boca). I also fell in love with yin yoga, which I practiced and studied for three years with the brilliant Josh Summers in Boston. 

I explore various styles of yoga and maintain a daily practice. I offer private in-home sessions, especially geared toward beginners. I also work with medicinal herbs and permaculture. I love creating natural body and household products, as well as delicious plant-based meals and desserts. In addition, I am working with a lifestyle health organization supporting people with type 2 diabetes. I am a Level II Usui Reiki practitioner, an experience that has been incredibly healing. I believe strongly in the power of natural health and intend to share what I learn with anyone interested.
